Bias Tugel Beach Padang Bai Karangasem

Bias Tugel Beach Padangbai Bali – All Things Need To Know Before Visiting

Post Modified Date: 26/10/2024 by Wayan Suadnyana Category: Destinations

People may rarely hear the name Bias Tugel beach. The location is far from Bali’s main tourism area, such as Kuta beach Bali. Also, to get to the Bias Tugel beach, it is about 57 km with a travel time of 1,5 hours travel time from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International airport. As a glimpse, to reach this beach location, you have to go to the Padangbai Karangasem port.

The Main Attraction of Bias Tugel Beach

Bias Tugel beach’s main attraction lies in its hidden location due to the isolated rocky hill area. With remote location makes Bias Tugel beach less crowded with visitors.

Also, the beach sand is white and slightly mixed with black sand. So Bias Tugel Beach does not have white sand like Melasti beach Ungasan or Padang-Padang beach.

The waves in coastal waters are still safe for swimming, but there are no lifeguards around the beach area. The seawater’s color during the day offers a bluish-green gradation, and the cleanliness of the beach is very well maintained.

What Does It Mean By The Name Bias Tugel?

Bias Tugel is the Balinese language. The word ”Bias” means sand, while ”Tugel” means truncated. So the Bias Tugel beach means a beach with a truncated coastline.

There is a relatively large black rock cliff that cuts the coastline at each end of the coastline. The stretch of Bias Tugel Beach is not very long, and I personally never measure the length of the Bias Tugel shoreline. However, I estimate that the coastline is about 180 meters long.

Holiday Transportation Guide to East Bali

Suppose you are in the southern Bali tourist area. In that case, you can easily find public transportation. However, public transport from the south Bali area to East Bali’s site will be challenging for you to get.

The best transportation for holidays outside the southern Bali area is to use private vehicles, such as a scooter, or cars.

Bali Scooter Rental

Finding scooter rental on Bali’s island is very easy; all you have to do is use Google to find it. Then you will find many scooter rental providers on the island of Bali. The average scooter rental price on Bali’s island is around IDR 75,000/24 hours without fuel.

Bali Car Rental

If you require comfort, you can arrange to use a car for vacation transportation on Bali’s island. Bali has two rental car options, namely car rental with driver and self-drive car rental.

Currently, it is scarce to find self-drive car rental providers in Bali. Still, you can try to find them through Google. However, looking for Bali’s car rental services with a driver will be very easy for you to obtain.

The price of a car rental with a driver depends on the type of vehicle you want to use. For example, a Toyota Avanza’s rental cost with Bali’s driver is around IDR 650,000 / 10 hours with fuel.

Apart from using car rental services with drivers on Bali’s island, some visitors like to book Bali tour packages with their chosen route.

Guide To Get Bias Tugel Beach Location

The best way for you to find the beach location is by using Google Map. However, I will briefly describe the pathway that you will cross after you arrive at the Padangbai Karangasem Harbor entrance gate.

From whichever area you depart, either from Kuta, from Ubud, or Candidasa, to get to the Bias Tugel Beach area, you will see the entrance gate to Padangbai Karangasem Harbor. Padangbai Harbor is a famous location to get a fast boat from Bali to Gili Trawangan Island.

After you see the entrance gate of Padangbai Karangasem Harbor, there is a crossroad before entering the port. If you continue moving straight, you will find Padangbai port.

Do not enter the Padangbai port area. Instead, you turn right after passing the BRI Bank Padangbai branch office. If you turn left at an intersection, you will find the Blue Lagoon beach, which is also one of Bali’s beautiful beaches with a hidden location.

You will see a narrow road after you turn right but still enough for four-wheeled vehicles to pass. Also, there are several inclined roads with 15 degrees of slope gradient. After that, you will find a crossroads, and at the corners, there are directions to turn left towards the beach area.

A few minutes away, you will arrive at the entrance gate to the beach. In this area, you will pay a ticket to enter the Bias Tugel beach.

Bias Tugel Beach Padangbai Entrance Fee

Every visitor of Bias Tugel Beach needs to pay an entrance fee. The following is the Bias Tugel Beach entrance ticket price.

CategoryEntrance Fee
DomesticIDR 5,000/person
InternationalIDR 10,000/person

The beach entrance ticket price includes vehicle parking fees. When you pay for the entrance ticket, please ask the clerk where you can park your vehicle.

You have to walk through a relatively steep and rocky road to reach the beach location from the vehicle parking location. The journey down the rocky hill is not challenging. Also, you need around 2-4 minutes walk to see the beach shoreline. When you arrive at the beach, you will see a stretch of white sandy beach with clear blue sea water is visible in front of you.

Visitor Facilities

Supporting facilities for visitors such as hotels and restaurants have not been built around the beach area. Therefore, if you are looking for Bias Tugel Beach accommodation, you need to find it near Padangbai Port.
Nearby the beach, there are a few foods and beverage stalls.

The foods and beverage stall is quite simple, made of bamboo and covered with dry coconut leaves. Information from stall owners their booth sometimes collapses if the sea wind is mighty, especially during the rainy monsoons at night.

You can order food and drinks at a beachside booth. Western menus are available, Indonesian food menus such as fried rice and fried noodles are also available. For drinks, you can order young coconut or other cold beverages.

For me, the food and drinks prices are not too high. But if you want to save money, it’s a good idea to bring food and beverages. But, remember to bring your trash back.

There is a sundeck on the beach area, right in front of each stall, which the shop owner rents out. I paid the rent for two decks for IDR 25,000. If you don’t want to rent a deck, you can use a towel as a base.

Things You Will See

The first thing you will see, the beach area is still beautiful and natural, and the beach area is not crowded with visitors. The coastline is not too long, with white sand mixed with black volcanic particles. You will also see turquoise waters with relatively small sea waves, and it is very safe to swim.

The towering rocks on the beach’s left side make the beach isolated from the Padangbai port, which is right next to it.

You can see water blow spurting upwards due to the waves’ impact with rocks, which you can see about 50 meters to the beach’s right side.

Vacation Activities

Bias Tugel Beach is very tranquil, making the beach area very comfortable, peaceful and you can easily relax. Most travelers who have a vacation to Bias Tugel beach will sit back and relax on the beach, swim, or soak in the gully area.

Bias Tugel Beach is also perfect for family vacation spots for those who bring children to Bali. Parents will easily supervise their children while playing in the sand or swimming because visitors around the beach are relatively rare.

Be careful when swimming, because there are many underwater rocks on the beachside area. At low tide, these underwater rocks are very close to the water surface.

Most visitors who come to Bias Tugel Beach want to enjoy a tranquil beach atmosphere and enjoy snorkeling activities. If you’re going to snorkel, it’s a good idea to bring the snorkeling equipment you have.

Underwater life is decent and still very natural, with several coral reefs. Various kinds of ornamental fish are present to greet snorkeling lovers. If you are a beginner in snorkeling, it’s a good idea to try snorkeling at Tanjung Benoa beach.

Best Time to Visit & Must Bring Items

Based on my experience, the best time to visit is when the seawater has moderate waves because the beach waves are not too big. Finding tide information for Padang Bai Bali is very easy. You only need to click the link!

Besides that, you also need to know; the beach entrance gate closes at 18:00. So, it’s a good idea to arrive around 15:00, so you can enjoy the beach for longer.

There are certain essential things that you should bring with you while on vacation to the Bias Tugel beach.

  • Sunglasses.
  • Sunblock.
  • Snorkeling equipment if you want to snorkel.
  • Towels and a change of clothes.
