One of the main attractive points of Bali Island as a tourist attraction is the beach. Especially the white sand beach. Many travelers said that if they are on holiday in Bali without visiting Kuta Beach and Legian Beach, it does not feel like having a vacation in Bali. It has the right point of view, as I note every day, Kuta Beach Bali is crowded with tourists visiting.

Kuta Beach Bali Point of Interest

Several points of interest made Kuta Beach Bali a favorite beach for tourists:

  • Many hotels, villas, and bungalows are located close to Kuta beach within walking distance.
  • Easy to get a place for dining or a few hours of hangout.
  • Kuta Beach is one of the best beaches in Bali to see the sunset.

Therefore, the question now is! Are you looking for another alternative to the best beach to see the sunset in Bali besides Kuta Beach?

Then you read the right page! Furthermore, the island of Bali has many beaches to see the sunset scenery, and I have counted them! It reaches 38 shores only on the island.

This list focuses on Bali Island only. For island-hopping plans, compare it later with our Nusa Penida beach guide.

List 10 Best Beaches To Watch The Sunset In Bali

This page lists the 10 best beaches to watch the sunset in Bali. Offer a unique place, fun activities, and a beautiful sunset view.

1. Kelan Beach Tuban

Kelan Beach is located in the south of Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. Because of its coastal location at Kelan Beach, adjacent to Ngurah Rai airport. Therefore, every visitor of Kelan Beach will be able to see the view of the beach, along with aircraft landing or take-off.

Moreover, during the high tourist season in Bali, which is in August and December, almost every 5 minutes, you will be able to see an aircraft landing or taking off from Kelan Beach.

Kelan Beach Bali is my top pick for watching the sunset because it offers a beautiful view, fewer crowds, and the unique sight of planes landing or taking off nearby. If you want to find Kelan Beach Bali, just click the link below to see its location on Google Maps.

For navigation, open the Kelan Beach location on Google Maps before you leave, especially if you are coming from the airport or Jimbaran area.”

2. Tanah Lot Beach

Tanah Lot is the most popular tourist attraction in Bali. When you visit Tanah Lot, you will see the Balinese Hindu temple located on top of the big rock. The location of Tanah Lot temple faces the west, which makes Tanah Lot one of the best spots to see the sunset in Bali.

The beauty and uniqueness of the Tanah Lot sunset are in the temple silhouette during the evening, and you will not see it in other parts of Bali Island.

Before visiting at sunset, check the Tanah Lot Temple entrance fee guide so you know the current ticket category and parking cost.

3. Jimbaran Beach

Jimbaran beach is well-known to travelers as the best place to have a sunset dinner on a white sand beach, which is preferable for a honeymoon couple. Many seafood cafes on the coastline of Jimbaran beach serve fresh seafood choices with Balinese-style spices.

For dinner planning, read the Jimbaran Beach sunset and seafood guide before choosing your beach zone or restaurant.

4. Batu Bolong Beach, Canggu

Furthermore, for me, Batu Bolong Beach Canggu is the best sunset spot in Canggu. In the Batu Bolong beach area, you will find many hangout spots directly facing the beach, such as Sand Bar, Sunset Point Canggu, and The Lawn Canggu.

The position of the Canggu coastline facing the southwest side makes it from Batu Bolong beach, Canggu; you can see the sunset view without any obstacles.

In the afternoon, the sky color gradient looks gorgeous at sunset, and the sky color changes quickly. The sunset beauty moment while hanging out at one of the beach clubs in Canggu is often sought after by many travelers.

If you want a Canggu sunset with cafés and beach access, open the Batu Bolong Beach Canggu visitor guide before deciding where to sit.

5. Dreamland Beach

Dreamland Beach is well known among surfers for its big, challenging waves. It is also a favorite spot for travelers who want to relax on a sundeck and watch the sunset. Dreamland Beach Bali faces west, making it a great spot to watch the sunset.

Check Dreamland Beach location on Google Maps before leaving, because access through Pecatu can feel confusing for first-time visitors.

6. Suluban Beach Uluwatu

If you’re looking for the best place to watch the sunset in Uluwatu, here are some great options.

Suluban Beach in Uluwatu is more popular with international travelers than with Indonesian tourists. This might be because many Indonesian visitors prefer to spend their afternoons at Uluwatu Temple, watching the Kecak and Fire dance.

If you want to enjoy a beautiful sunset in Bali while watching a Balinese Kecak dance on a cliff, Uluwatu Temple is the place to go. However, since the temple sits on a cliff and there is no beach, I don’t include it as the best beach for sunset views in Bali.

To get affordable tickets for the Kecak Fire dance at Uluwatu Temple, it’s better to book online instead of buying them at the venue.

If you prefer a cliffside sunset with a cultural show instead of a beach, check the Uluwatu Kecak schedule and ticket guide before choosing this option.

Suluban Beach in Uluwatu is also known as one of Bali’s top surfing spots thanks to its big waves. The beach has clean white sand and faces west so that you can enjoy an open sunset view with no cliffs in the way.

For access, stairs, surf conditions, and sunset planning, read the Suluban Beach Uluwatu visitor guide.

7. Balangan Beach

What makes Balangan Beach in Bali special is its high cliffs and the rows of coconut trees along the white sandy shore. I’ve seen many couples hold their wedding ceremonies and sunset dinner receptions right on the beach. It’s quite a sight.

With its unique setting and the beautiful silhouettes of coconut trees at sunset, Balangan Beach truly deserves a spot among Bali’s top 10 beaches for sunset views. The scenery here is both fun and memorable.

For cliff viewpoints, surf notes, and sunset access, read the Balangan Beach sunset and surf guide.

8. Mesari Beach, Seminyak

Seminyak is home to many beaches, and one of the most popular is Mesari Beach. You might know it as Double Six Beach or Seminyak Beach, which are other names for Mesari Beach.

Every afternoon at sunset, many travelers come to Mesari Beach Seminyak to relax and enjoy the view. The beach is large, so even with lots of visitors, it still feels comfortable and spacious.

I included Mesari Beach Seminyak in my list of the 10 best beaches to watch the sunset in Bali. Along its coastline, you’ll find many restaurants that offer fun and unique spots to enjoy the evening.

One of the best places to watch the sunset is La Planca Beach restaurant, known for its lively atmosphere and colorful chairs. It’s a great spot to relax and enjoy the view.

For the Double Six or Mesari sunset, open the Mesari Beach location on Google Maps and choose a nearby drop-off point before traffic builds.

9. Petitenget Beach

Petitenget Beach sits along the same coastline as Mesari Beach, so they share many of the same features. Since Petitenget is further west, you can enjoy even more beautiful sunset views here than at Mesari Beach Seminyak.

Petitenget Beach is usually less crowded than Mesari Beach, Seminyak, because it is a bit farther from the main area. You’ll find plenty of bars and restaurants along the shore, with La Lucciola being the most popular.

For a quieter Seminyak sunset, read the Petitenget Beach Seminyak guide before choosing between Petitenget and Double Six.

10. Echo Beach Canggu / Pantai Batu Mejan

Echo Beach Canggu is the only black sand beach among the top 10 places to watch the sunset in Bali. Locals also know it as “Pantai Batu Mejan.”

Even though Echo Beach Canggu has black sand, its wide 180-degree sunset view and strong reef break waves have made it very popular with surfers. The beach is kept very clean, thanks to the surf school and cafes nearby.

With its clean sand, sweeping sunset views, and many seafood cafes, Echo Beach Canggu deserves its spot among Bali’s top 10 sunset beaches.

For black sand, surf atmosphere, and sunset cafés, open the Echo Beach Canggu visitor guide.

Sunset Time In Bali

You might be wondering what time the sun sets in Bali. Knowing the sunset time in Bali helps you arrive at your spot on time. For the most accurate daily timing, check the Denpasar sunset time calendar before planning your sunset departure.

FAQ of Best Places For Sunset In Bali

We often get questions from readers about the best places for sunset in Bali. The following are frequently asked questions from those seeking information on sunset spots in Bali.

Can you see the sunset from the Nusa Dua beach area?

The coastline faces the east side of the Nusa Dua beaches, such as Mengiat beach and Geger beach. This means that the beach in the Nusa Dua area is more suitable for viewing sunrise scenery.

Although you can see some sunsets from the Nusa Dua beach area, you will not see it directly like at Uluwatu Temple or Tanah Lot Temple.

Is there a sunset in the Sanur beach area?

Like Nusa Dua, Sanur’s shoreline faces east, making it better for sunrise viewing. In fact, one of Sanur’s beaches is called Sunrise Beach or Pantai Matahari Terbit.
