The idea originator construction of Bajra Sandhi monument is Prof. Ida Bagus Matra who served as Bali Governor, in 1980. The architect of this monument is Ir. Ida Bagus Gede Yadnya, who won the architectural design competition for the memorial in 1981. Ir. Ida Bagus Gede Yadnya architectural design has a potent symbol of the Republic of Indonesia independence day which is on 17 August 1945.
