If you are still wondering if Bali is a worthy place to visit, here are ten unique places you can only find in Bali.

1. Ulun Danu Temple Beratan Lake

Ulun Danu Temple Bali At Lake Beratan Bedugul
Ulun Danu Temple Bali At Lake Beratan Bedugul

The Ulun is a Balinese word that means edge, while Danu implies lake. So Ulun Danu temple Beratan means a temple on the edge of Beratan Lake. Lake Beratan is located in the Bedugul area, Tabanan Regency, Bali. The Beratan lake location is in a highland, which is about 1,250 meters above sea level. Because the Bedugul area is on a plateau, the Bedugul air temperature is very relaxed compared to the south Bali area.

Then what highlights can I see when visiting Ulun Danu Beratan Temple? When you enter the entrance gate of Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, you will see the uniqueness of Balinese temple architecture, beautiful atmosphere, and cold air. You also will see a neat garden and an unspoiled natural environment.

When you arrive at the edge of Lake Beratan, you will see a Balinese temple floating on the lake’s surface. In the afternoon, the fog will come down and cover most of the Lake Beratan area.

2. Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu temple is the second on the list of ten unique places you only find in Bali. The Uluwatu temple’s uniqueness lies in its location on the edge of the cliff. The cliff height measured from the seawater surface is around 100 meters. From the Uluwatu temple location, visitors will see the South Indian Ocean, which offers an astonishing view. During sunset time in the clear sky, which is around 17:40 – 18:30, the visitors will see beautiful sunset scenery from a high cliff.

Besides Balinese Hindu temple architecture and sunset, visitors can also see the most well-known Balinese dance performance. The dance is called Kecak and Fire Dance. The Kecak and Fire dance takes place on the east side of the Uluwatu temple with open stages. Because the Kecak and Fire Dance show starts at 18:00, visitors will also see sunset scenery while watching the Kecak and Fire Dance Uluwatu.

3. Tanah Lot Temple

If you see a significant Balinese Hindu temple on top of a sizeable black limestone in a travel magazine or brochure, it is Tanah Lot temple. As a Bali attraction, Tanah Lot temple is so famous; therefore, every day around the area of Tanah Lot temple, you will see many visitors.

The uniqueness of the Tanah Lot temple lies in its location. The Tanah Lot Balinese Hindu temple location is on top of a large black stone, and the black stone lies on the beach shoreline. During high tide and rising sea waves, the temple looks like it is in the middle of the sea. Because the coastline faces the southwest, visitors will see fantastic sunset scenery combined with the temple silhouette during the evening.

4. Pengelipuran Village

If you want to see the uniqueness of Bali, you should visit Balinese traditional villages. There are many traditional Bali villages; however, the most famous Balinese traditional village is the Penglipuran Village. When you arrive at the Penglipuran Village, you will see a village that offers a tranquil, clean, neat garden and unique Balinese traditional home architecture.

On the north side of the Penglipuran village, still within walking distance, you will find a neat 45-hectare bamboo forest with a pathway in the middle of the woods.

5. Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village

Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village

Besides Penglipuran village, another traditional village worth visiting to see Bali’s uniqueness is Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village. The Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village is located in east Bali, in Karangasem Regency. Also, the Teganganan Village location is close to Candidasa.

Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village is one of the antique villages that still exist in Bali. Balinese call this old village Bali Aga. Bali Aga village in Bali comprises three remains: Trunyan Village, Sembiran Village, and Tenganan Village.

So, what does it look like in an ancient Balinese village (Bali Aga)? Bali Aga was a village that followed the rules and culture before the Majapahit Kingdom arrived on Bali island. Therefore, in Bali Aga village, you will see unique Bali house architecture, meeting halls, and temples that are different from other parts of Bali.

6. Jatiluwih Rice Terrace

Jatiluwih Rice Terrace

Besides white sand beaches, Bali is famous for its rice field scenery. When traveling to Bali, you will see most of the area covered by the rice field. However, certain places in Bali have rice fields formed by terraces. There are two popular locations in Bali where you can see rice terraces: Tegalalang Ubud Rice Terrace and Jatiluwih Rice Terrace.

When on holiday to Bali, most people will visit the Tegalalang Ubud rice terrace because the location is on the same route as Kintamani and Ubud. However, to see the best scenery of the Bali rice terrace, you should come to Jatiluwih Rice Terrace.

When you arrive at the Jatiluwih Rice Terrace, you can feel the fresh air and see the astonishing view of the rice terrace. The rice terrace is so large, and I assume around 600 hectares wide, maybe more.

Nusa Penida island is part of Bali island even though it is separated by sea. There are many best things to see and do on Nusa Penida Island, which is primarily a beach attraction. One of the unique things to see in Nusa Penida island is the Broken Beach Nusa Penida. However, before you visit the Broken Beach Nusa Penida, you must find a way to Nusa Penida island from Bali.

Broken Beach Nusa Penida’s location is on the southwest side of Nusa Penida island. When you arrive at the Broken Beach Nusa Penida, you will see hilly rock arches with a view of the South Indian Ocean.

The site is named Broken Beach because of a large hole in the cliff arches. The large hole in cliff arches occurs because some of the cliff arches collapse. Through the cliff hole, the seawater can access the inner side of the turns. This large hole on the cliff arches makes the Broken Beach Nusa Penida offer unique scenery.
