Bali Zoo Timings: Opening Hours and Last Entry

Family watching an elephant from behind a visitor barrier in the morning
Morning elephant viewing.

Furthermore, Bali Zoo is generally open from 09:00 to 17:00. Last entry is 16:00.

Do not treat 16:00 as a normal starting time. You may still enter before the last entry, but the visit will feel short because you still need time for walking, toilets, photos, drinks, and family breaks.

A practical Bali Zoo timings plan:

  • Try to arrive around 9:00 in the morning for a cooler and quieter experience.
  • If you prefer a more relaxed visit, plan to enter by early afternoon.
  • Try not to arrive near 4:00 p.m. unless you only have time for a short visit.
  • Before you leave your hotel, double-check today’s opening hours, especially if it’s a holiday.

Based on our experience assisting families, visiting in the morning often works better. In the early hours, children tend to have more energy, the walking paths feel more comfortable, and parents can enjoy a slower pace before the temperature rises.

An afternoon visit can still work if your family prefers a later start. Just keep the last entry in mind. If your child naps after lunch, try to finish the main walking loop before 14:00 so the return trip feels easier.

Before You Go: 2-Minute Checklist

Save these before leaving your hotel.

What to Wear and Bring

Bali Zoo is mostly an outdoor visit. Prepare for heat, humidity, walking, and possible rain.

What to Wear

Wear:

  • Light, breathable clothing.
  • Comfortable walking shoes or trainers.
  • Hat or cap.
  • A compact poncho or a light rain jacket during the rainy season.

After it rains, paths, ramps, and tiles can get slippery. It’s better to wear shoes with a good grip instead of sandals that look nice but might not be safe.

What to Bring

Bring items that make the walk easier, not a heavy bag you will regret carrying.

Recommended items:

  • Reusable water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Wet wipes
  • Small towel
  • Spare clothes for children
  • Wet-friendly sandals if your child joins Jungle Splash
  • Waterproof pouch or small bag for phone and valuables
  • Baby formula or baby food, if needed

If you bring baby food or formula, ask staff at the entrance about that day’s outside-food rules.

Where Bali Zoo Is and How to Get There

Bali Zoo is in Singapadu, Sukawati, Gianyar.

A half-day visit can work well from Ubud, Sanur, Kuta, Seminyak, Jimbaran, or Nusa Dua. Still, travel time depends on traffic and your exact starting point.

Google Maps Routing Tip

Use this route check:

  • Open Google Maps.
  • Search “Bali Zoo”.
  • Choose the official Bali Zoo pin in Singapadu, Gianyar.
  • Start the route from your exact hotel or villa.
  • Follow the current suggested route because Bali traffic can change during the day.

You may see “Bali Zoo Park” online. For navigation, search “Bali Zoo” and choose the official location pin in Singapadu.

Grab, Gojek, or Private Driver?

Choose transport based on your group, timing, and how much gear you carry.

Grab or Gojek may work better if:

  • You are traveling light.
  • You only plan to visit the zoo.
  • You are comfortable arranging your return ride later.

A private driver may work better if:

  • You visit with toddlers or young children.
  • You bring a stroller, baby gear, or spare clothes.
  • You plan to combine Bali Zoo with another stop.
  • You want a more adjustable pickup and return time.

Charge your phone before leaving. When you arrive, note your pickup point or parking location.

Bali Zoo Map Tips to Save Time

Official Bali Zoo map showing animal zones, facilities, and opening hours
Official zoo map for planning.

Take a look at the official Bali Zoo map before you begin your visit.

The map is not only for finding animals. It helps you avoid zig-zag walking, find toilets early, choose shaded breaks, and keep the route realistic with children.

Here’s how to use the map:

  • Start by finding the entrance.
  • Next, mark the main walking path.
  • Look for the nearest toilets before you walk too far.
  • Pick one main loop to follow.
  • Add side branches to your route only if they make sense.
  • Plan one shaded break before your group gets tired.
  • Avoid crossing back and forth with children.

For parents, the hardest part is usually not the entrance time itself. It is keeping the route short enough before the children get tired.

With toddlers, a shorter route often works better. A relaxed 2 to 3-hour visit can feel smoother than forcing a full loop.

Simple Visit Flow, Not an Activity Checklist

Use this as a simple rhythm, not a list of things you must complete.

A smooth visit often looks like this:

  • Start with the main walking loop while the weather is cooler.
  • Choose one anchor moment, such as one presentation or Jungle Splash.
  • Add shade, toilet, and drink breaks.
  • Leave before children become overtired.

Keep this section as a timing guide. If you need buying details, use the ticket page linked near the top of this article.

Animal Encounters for Cautious Children

Child and adult viewing a crocodile safely behind glass
Safe crocodile viewing.

Some children feel nervous around larger animals. Start slowly.

A gentle approach:

  • Begin with observation from a safe distance.
  • Do not force your child to touch or approach an animal.
  • Join feeding only when it is offered that day and supervised by staff.
  • Stay close to your child during any interaction.
  • Follow staff instructions in each area.

If your child feels unsure, avoid close-contact activities. You can still have fun on the visit by enjoying viewing areas, talks, shaded breaks, and map games.

Jungle Splash Waterplay: Timing and What to Pack

Children playing in the Jungle Splash water area

Jungle Splash can be a useful cooling break when the day gets hot.

What to bring:

  • Swimwear or an extra set of clothes.
  • A small towel.
  • Sandals that can get wet.
  • A waterproof bag for your phone and valuables.

Suggested timing:

  • Late morning or early afternoon is usually a good time.
  • If you have toddlers, try to go before they get sleepy.
  • Keep the session short if your child still takes an afternoon nap.

Don’t make Jungle Splash the main reason for your visit. Instead, use it as one cooling break during your zoo visit.

Animal Presentations and Keeper Talks

Group listening to a keeper talk beside an animal enclosure
The keeper talks beside an enclosure.

Presentation times can shift because of weather, animal care, or daily operations.

If there is a presentation, it can make your visit feel more organized and give children a break from walking.

Here’s how you can make the most of it:

  • Check the board when you arrive.
  • Choose one presentation that fits your route.
  • Avoid walking back across the park only to catch every talk.
  • Use the presentation as a natural shade or hydration break.

One well-timed presentation is usually more useful than chasing the full schedule.

Photo Expectations and Respectful Photos

It’s usually easier to take family photos early in your visit, before the kids get tired and the paths become crowded.

Good photo moments:

  • First hour after opening
  • Quieter walking areas
  • Shaded viewing points
  • Calm moments before children get restless

Tips for taking photos respectfully:

  • Always stay behind the barriers.
  • Please avoid using flash near animals.
  • Don’t try to get closer by chasing animals for a photo.
  • Follow all posted signs and listen to staff directions.
  • Take photos when animals have plenty of space and can move away if they want.

Skip the photo if it means crowding an animal, forcing interaction, or making your child uncomfortable.

Best Time to Visit Bali Zoo With Family

These sample schedules can help you plan your visit. Feel free to change your pace depending on the weather, how busy it is, your child’s mood, and the day’s schedule when you arrive.

Option A: Smart Half-Day Visit, About 3 to 4 Hours

Choose this option if you want to keep your visit focused and relaxed.

09:00 to 10:30Main walking loop, priority exhibits, and early photos.
10:30 to 12:00One presentation, if available, then a shaded drink break.
12:00 to 13:00Simple lunch or rest stop.
13:00 to 13:30One easy final stop, toilet break, or souvenir stop before leaving.

Head out before anyone gets too tired. This makes the trip home easier, especially if you have kids with you.

Option B: Longer Family Visit, About 4 to 6 Hours

Choose this option if your family would like extra time for breaks and water play.

09:00 to 10:30Visit the main exhibits while the paths are less crowded.
10:30 to 12:00Watch a presentation, take a break in the shade, and have some water.
12:00 to 14:30Lunch and Jungle Splash waterplay.
14:30 to 16:00Take a short second loop, stop for a restroom break, and make your final visit before closing.

Do not leave the main loop too late. Last entry is not the same as having a full afternoon inside the zoo.

Visiting With Toddlers and Preschoolers

With small children, start time matters more than how many areas you cover.

Toddler-Friendly Rhythm

Here’s a plan that works well:

  • Try to arrive by 9:00 in the morning.
  • Plan for the main part of your outing to last about two to three hours.
  • Take breaks before your child gets overtired.
  • Try to see the main attractions before your child’s early afternoon nap time.
  • Leave while your child is still in a good mood.

Food, drinks, shade, and short pauses often work better than asking children to keep walking.

Stroller and Baby Carrier Tips

Families using strollers on a wide visitor path at Bali Zoo
Stroller-friendly visitor path.

Strollers work well on wide paths, but you might come across slopes or uneven ground in some spots.

Here are some helpful tips:

  • Use a stroller with larger wheels if possible.
  • It’s a good idea to bring a baby carrier just in case.
  • Keep children close to exhibits.
  • Ask staff for the easiest stroller route if needed.
  • Avoid steep or crowded sections if your child is already tired.

If you bring a stroller, it helps to check the easiest route before heading too far from the entrance. This can save you energy later, especially if your child asks to be carried.

A carrier is useful if your child wants to sleep or if one section feels narrow or busy.

Mini Missions for Children

Small “mini missions” can make the walk seem easier.

Try simple prompts like:

  • “Can you find the zebra on the map?”
  • “Let’s spot one animal before our next drink break.”
  • “Which path takes us to the toilet?”
  • “Can you find a shaded seat for our next rest?”

Keep it light. The point is to help children enjoy the route, not complete every stop.

Parent-Friendly Facilities

When you arrive, check the nearest toilets before starting the main loop. This is useful with babies, toddlers, or young children.

Useful items to bring:

  • Wet wipes
  • Small changing mat
  • Plastic bag for wet or dirty items
  • Baby formula or baby food, if needed
  • Small toy or fan for waiting time

Some toilets may have baby-changing facilities, but do not rely on every area having a dedicated baby-changing space.

If you need a quieter place to breastfeed, change your baby, or calm a child, ask Bali Zoo staff for the nearest suitable spot.

If you carry many children’s items, ask whether lockers or storage near the entrance are available. Items you do not need inside the park are often easier to leave safely in your vehicle.

Responsible Visit and Animal Welfare

Many travelers want their wildlife experiences to be respectful.

Before choosing any close-contact experience, read the latest information and choose what matches your comfort level.

How to make your visit responsible:

  • Focus on learning, watching, and joining talks or presentations.
  • Give every animal plenty of space.
  • Pick activities where animals can move away, rest, or avoid people if they want to.
  • Stay away from situations that are crowded, forced, or stressful for the animals.
  • Don’t try to get close-up photos if it means bothering the animals.
  • Skip an experience if it does not feel right to you.

Visits focused on observing can still be special, especially for families with children.

Visitor Rules: Simple Summary

Please review Bali Zoo’s official Terms & Conditions before your visit to make sure you have the most up-to-date information.

Here are some general reminders for your visit:

  • Use designated bins and do not litter.
  • Feed animals only when permitted and under staff guidance.
  • Do not harass, disturb, or harm animals.
  • An adult should accompany children under 15.
  • Always keep a safe distance from the animal enclosures.
  • Follow signs and staff instructions.
  • Confirm outside food rules at the entrance, especially if bringing baby food or formula.

Rules can differ by area or daily condition, so follow staff directions on the day.

Bali Zoo Timings FAQs

What is the difference between the last entry and the closing time?

The last entry is the latest time visitors can enter the gate. Closing time is when the zoo ends daily operations. If you enter close to the last entry, expect a shorter visit.

Is Bali Zoo open on Nyepi or public holidays?

Bali Zoo is closed on Nyepi, Bali’s Day of Silence. For other public holidays, hours may follow the normal schedule, but check the official visitor reference before going.

Is it worth visiting Bali Zoo on a rainy day?

A rainy day visit can still be enjoyable if the rain is light. Bring a poncho and wear slip-resistant shoes. Plan for more breaks in covered areas, but remember that heavy rain may impact outdoor activities.

Is the Bali Zoo accessible for wheelchair users?

Some areas of Bali Zoo are accessible to wheelchair users. The comfort of the route depends on the slope, how crowded it is, and the path you choose. When you arrive, use the Zoo Map and ask the staff for the easiest route.

Where can I find today’s presentation and keeper-talk times?

When you get here, take a look at the information board or ask one of the staff members near the entrance for help. Pick one presentation that matches your path, so you don’t have to walk back and forth across the park.

Can I visit Bali Zoo with a baby under 1 year old?

Keep the visit short and flexible. Try to arrive in the morning. Use a stroller or baby carrier. Take breaks in the shade and leave before your baby gets too tired.

Can young children feed animals?

Only when animal feeding is available that day and supervised by staff, parents should stay close. For younger children, feeding works better when they can calmly follow simple instructions.

Are all family features available every day?

Not always. Presentations, keeper talks, feeding sessions, Jungle Splash, and family areas can change because of weather, animal care, or daily operations. Check the schedule when you arrive.
